Women Workers Forum Hosts Vital Session on Cervical Cancer Awareness
On May 9, 2025, the Women Workers Forum held a physical meeting centered on raising awareness about cervical cancer, a serious yet preventable health condition primarily caused by the Human Papillomavirus (HPV).
One of the key concerns highlighted was that cervical cancer often presents no early symptoms, making education and preventive care all the more essential.
During the session, participants explored key risk factors including:
- Early onset of sexual activity
- Tobacco use (smoking)
- Lack of regular screening or Pap smears.
The forum underscored the importance of HPV vaccination and routine Pap smear testing as powerful tools in the fight against cervical cancer. When detected early, cervical cancer is highly treatable, and survival rates are significantly improved.
This initiative reflects the forum’s commitment to empowering women through knowledge, promoting preventive healthcare, and encouraging early detection as a pathway to healthier communities.
