Girls’ Power Initiative (GPI) Asaba today paid an advocacy visit to the local government chairman of Aniocha North L.G.A Hon. Chucks Oseme. Also present was the secretary to the Local Government Hon Patrick Onochie.
The co-ordinator of Girls’ Power Initiative (GPI) Asaba speaking at the event stressed the importance of equipping young girls with information which will enable them make better choices on reproductive health issues and challenges they face while growing up. According to her, GPI Asaba is currently working in Aniocha South, Oshimili North and South and Isoko North and South both with health workers and teachers in outreach schools. She requested that the chairman support us in his capacity to ensure the implementation of the adolescent health policy and the integration of adolescent friendly services in health centres in Aniocha North and also to reach adolescents with reproductive health information.
Responding, the chairman said he will give all necessary support to the GPI team in implementing the adolescent health policy. He said the team can commence work and also told the team to reach the health clinic in the local government as there are a lot of adolescents that access their services.
